Innovative Southwestern cuisine at the prestigious and award-wining Kai ("seed" in the Pima language) uses indigenous ingredients from local tribal farms. The seasonal menu reflects the restaurant's natural setting on the Gila River Indian Community. Standout appetizers include lobster tail on Indian fry bread and sea urchin in piquillo pepper fondue. Entrées like loin of Rocky Mountain elk with pumpkin, and the Cheyenne River buffalo tenderloin are excellent. Try to dine at sunset: the restaurant is adorned with Native American artifacts and has huge windows that showcase gorgeous mountain and desert views.

    My wife and I took our daughter and son-in-law to dinner at Kai. Three of us opted for the multi-course tasting menu, with wine pairings, which was extraordinary. Our son-in-law ordered from the regular menu, but the server brought him several glasses of wine from the pairing menu, plus dessert. Everything about Kai was first class.
