Galleries within this cultural and entertainment complex rotate exhibits frequently, but they typically emphasize contemporary art and artists. You might be able to catch a comical, interactive performance of the long-running "Late Night Catechism," or an installation of modern dance. The acclaimed Scottsdale Arts Festival is held annually in March.
Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. SMoCA, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, a "museum without walls," is on-site, and there's also a good museum store for unusual jewelry and stationery, posters, and art books. New installations are planned every few months, with an emphasis on contemporary art, architecture, and design. Free docent-led tours are conducted on Thursday at 1:30.
