Mrs. White's Golden Rule Café Review
This plain yellow building downtown has been the best place in town for true Southern cooking for decades. The humble lunch counter and few surrounding tables are the setting in which to enjoy rich entrées—from fried chicken to catfish and pork chops. Each of the six entrées comes with corn bread and peach cobbler, all of which fill not just the belly but also the soul. Get there early: the restaurant closes nightly at 7 pm (except on Friday and Saturday, when it reopens from 9 pm to 3 am).
