  • 1. Cha-Bones

    $$$

Contemporary artwork on the walls, mod hanging lamps, and water sculptures create a contemporary vibe at this hip, elegant restaurant a short drive north of London Bridge. Superbly prepared steaks and seafood are the key draw, from 24-ounce porterhouse cuts to cioppino in a saffron-tomato broth, but also consider the barbecue ribs and linguine with chicken and poblano chiles. An extensive tapas list and a great selection of wine and cocktails round out the offerings.

Although it's in a somewhat industrial area a short drive north of downtown, this lively, high-ceilinged restaurant and microbrewery with an enormous patio enjoys nice views of the lake. The craft beers, especially the crisp but balanced IPA and refreshing unfiltered American wheat, are reason alone to stop by, but the kitchen also turns out consistent comfort food including hefty sandwiches, pizzas, and Cajun-influenced dishes. Service can be uneven.

This allegedly haunted landmark (there are no overnight accommodations anymore) is on Oatman's historic main drag.
