Making the Most of Your Time

Making the Most of Your Time

Kingman is an ideal base for exploring Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the ghost towns of Oatman and Chloride, and the forested climes of Hualapai Mountain Park. You'll need at least a day to enjoy water sports on Lake Mead, whereas an hour or two is enough to explore the funky little towns of Oatman and Chloride. Even though Lake Havasu is only an hour away from Kingman, visitors heading down to those sandy shores can get the most out of their trip by staying at one of the local resorts. Water activities dominate the scene here, but if you have an extra hour or two consider a side trip to London Bridge, a birding expedition at Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, or a foray into the quaint shops in English Village. If gambling is on your list of things to do, you can take a quick jaunt across the Colorado River to Laughlin, where you can easily spend hours or days reveling in the glitz and glitter.
