Tuba City

Tuba City, believed to be named after a Hopi chief, "Tsuve," has about 8,600 permanent residents and is the administrative center for the western portion of the Navajo Nation. Most of the population are Navajo, but there’s also a small Hopi community—this is where you’ll find the Moenkopi Legacy Inn, which acts as something of a general information center and tour desk for the Hopi tribe. In addition to two hotels and a few restaurants, this small town has a hospital, a bank, a trading post, and a movie theater. In mid- to late October Tuba City hosts the Western Navajo Fair, a celebration combining traditional Navajo song and dance with a parade, pageant, and countless arts-and-crafts exhibits.
