Fodor's Review

At the turnoff for the western entrance to the Grand Canyon's South Rim, this trading post dates back to 1916 and contains handsome Southwestern-style rooms with carved-oak furniture, tile baths, and balconies overlooking the Colorado River. Native-stone landscaping—including fossilized dinosaur tracks—and a small, well-kept garden are pleasant. Make your reservations far in advance for high season.

great location for the grand canyon north rim

Great location if you are going to the Grand Canyon north rim as it is about a 1/2 mile from the road that leads to the North Rim entrance. This is the only motel in the area. It is right next to the little yellowstone river bridge which connects to the Indian reservation. Rooms were clean & well kept. The 2 queen beds were comfortable. Bathroom was dated but clean. Meals were reasonably priced. The fry bread is delicious. Excellent service from

the entire staff most of which were local Indians. They were very friendly & polite. Now for the interesting part. This hotel is part of an Indian Trading Post which sells interesting Indian art, jewelry and collector's items. It is a great place to explore during your stay. I'd definitely stay here again if in the area.
