Getting Here & Around

Getting Here & Around

Don't plan on flying into Flagstaff, Sedona, or Prescott: commercial flights are limited, and besides, getting here is half the fun; the scenery is gorgeous. You'll definitely want a car, and North-central Arizona is only two hours from Phoenix. Avoid interstates when possible; the back ways can be more direct and have the best views of the stunning landscape.

If you're driving to or from Phoenix, stop at Montezuma's Castle, and if you have time, ride the Verde Canyon Railroad for an off-road look at the terrain.

If you're driving from Sedona to Flagstaff or the Grand Canyon, head north through the wooded Oak Creek Canyon: it's the most scenic route.
