Fodor's Review

If you're looking for a vacation that is really back-of-beyond, do as the locals do and go "down on the Blue." The settlement of Blue, on the Blue River in the Blue Range Primitive Area, along the border with New Mexico, is one of the most remote sections of the state and a sure cure for the city-life blues. Try hiking or horseback riding to explore rivers, pine forests, canyons, Native American dwellings, and wildlife—or just sit on the porch and enjoy a hefty helping of serenity. Cabins have complete kitchens, and owners Bill and Mona Bunnell suggest you bring food. The ranch accepts only cash, checks, traveler's checks, or money orders.
