Kachemak Bay State Park and State Wilderness Park

Kachemak Bay is Alaska's first state park and only wilderness park. It protects roughly 400,000 acres of coast, mountains, glaciers, forests, and wildlife on the lower Kenai Peninsula. The park encompasses a line of snowcapped mountains and several large glaciers. The prominent one visible from Homer Spit is Grewingk Glacier. One of the most popular trails in the park is a 2-mile hike that ends at the lake in front of the glacier.
