Fairbanks Ice Museum
Fairbanks Ice Museum Review
You'd think that the last thing Fairbanksans would want to hang on to through the too-brief summer is a reminder of the brutal winters. However, the folks at the Ice Museum do just that. Sculptors work behind glass in large freezers where they create intricate sculptures from ice. About 25 sculptures are usually on display. Billed as "the coolest show in town," the Ice Showcase, a large glass-wall display, is kept at 20°F. Freeze Frame is a large-screen film demonstrating the techniques of ice sculpture. The museum is in the historic Lacey Street Theater, on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Lacey Street.
