World War II Military Installations

World War II Military Installations Review

Unalaska/Dutch Harbor's importance in the fight against Japan is clearly evident. The Aleutian World War II National Historic Area has been established near the airport to honor those killed in the Aleutian Chain during the war and to preserve and celebrate the military's legacy here. Remnants of bunkers, tunnels, Quonset huts, pillboxes, and other military relics are scattered throughout the local landscape, at places like Bunker Hill, Memorial Park, and Unalaska Lake.
