Brooks Lodge Review
Initially a fishing camp, this lodge has been in operation since 1950. All the attractions of Katmai National Park are at this lodge's doorstep: fly-fishing for rainbow trout, lake trout, arctic grayling, and salmon; brown bear-viewing; and tours to the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes. Accommodations are in detached modern cabins adorned with Alaskan artwork; they accommodate two to four people. All cabins have heat, electricity, and private toilet facilities. The cabins surround the main lodge, which has a spectacular view of aquamarine Naknek Lake; it has a circular stone fireplace and a dining area where buffet-style meals are served three times daily. Price includes airfare from Anchorage; special trips to the valley are extra.
