Pepe's North of the Border Review
The warmth of Pepe's will make you forget that you're in the middle of the Arctic tundra in the most famous restaurant north of Fairbanks. Murals depicting Mexican village scenes highlight the Mission-style decor, and an extensive selection of Mexican dishes, from soft tacos to burritos and flautas, makes this restaurant a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The restaurant's menu is also spiced up with dishes that feature Alaskan seafood and, at the high end of things, steak and lobster. Dinner at Pepe's is surprisingly refined for being on the very fringe of civilization.
