In Sterling, between Cooper Landing and Soldotna, Sal's has a true diner atmosphere. It's open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights, and the portions are large; there's even a sign on the wall that says, "If you're still hungry, tell us." Burgers, sandwiches, fish-and-chips, halibut, salmon, and some steaks are available, along with homemade bread and pies baked every day. You can buy loaves of sourdough, white, or wheat bread. It's a favorite spot for locals.
