Thompson Pass Mountain Chalet

Fodor's Review:

This rustic cabin in subalpine forest sits just off the trans-Alaska pipeline and within minutes of skiing and hiking at Thompson Pass. Open year-round, the chalet has a small kitchen and facilities for four, and the owners can direct you to the local hiking and ski trails, or for an additional fee, guide you on backcountry excursions. Ski season runs from mid-October to mid-May most years. Be advised that the narrow spiral staircase to the sleeping loft demands some agility, but the view from the upstairs window are great.
