Ward Lake Campgrounds

Fodor's Review:

Two rain-forest campgrounds are located 8 mi north of Ketchikan; turn right onto Revilla Road and follow it to the exceptionally scenic Ward Lake area. Both are managed by the Forest Service, with sites reservable ($9 extra) through the National Recreation Reservation Service (518/885-3639 or 877/444-6777. www.recreation.gov). Signal Creek Campground has 24 campsites adjacent to Ward Lake, a popular fishing, hiking, and picnicking area. Last Chance Campground is a mile farther up Revilla Road, and has 19 creek-side sites. Running water and rest rooms (no showers) are provided.
