Bear Track Inn Review

Built of spruce logs, this inn sits on a 97-acre property facing Icy Strait. Soaring ceilings open up the lobby, where a central fireplace and moose-antler chandeliers invite relaxation. Spacious guest rooms are luxuriously furnished, and a full-service restaurant (open to the public for dinner) specializes in seafood but also serves steak, vegetarian entrées, and wild game. All meals are made from scratch, and the inn is known for its fresh dressings, rolls, bread, ice cream, sorbet, and other desserts. The Bear Track doesn't cater to the light-walleted set: room rates start at $575 per person per night; the price includes meals and air transport from Juneau. (There are better deals for multiple-night packages.)
