Fodor's Review

At this unassuming café by day, bistro by night, you'll find locally sourced ingredients inventively prepared, with a nose-to-tail approach and excellent service. The menu changes a few times a week but might include reindeer prosciutto, coconut poached Kodiak scallops with squid ink adobo, or deep-fried salmon collars (the part behind the gills) with spruce-tip tartar sauce. It's popular with the locals so expect a crowd, especially at dinner when reservations are recommended. Check out the hand-stenciled design on the walls and the local art that hangs on them. The chef and owners also own Panhandle Provisions, a block away at 224 Seward Street; it's the place to pick up house-cured meats, speciality jams, and imported cheeses. You can also grab a great breakfast here, including fresh-baked pain au chocolat, buttermilk corncakes, and Stumptown Coffee.
