The Hangar on the Wharf

Fodor's Review

Crowded with locals and travelers, the Hangar occupies the building where Alaska Airlines started business. Flight-theme puns (e.g., "Pre-flight Snacks" and the "Plane Caesar") dominate the menu, but the comfortably worn wood and the vintage airplane photos create a casual experience that trumps the kitsch. Every seat has views of the Gastineau Channel and Douglas Island, and on warm days you can sit outdoors. The entrées include locally caught halibut and salmon, filet mignon, great burgers, and daily specials. The restaurant stocks more than 100 different beers, including a few dozen on tap. If you've had enough salmon, try the prime rib, a Hangar specialty.
