Haines

Getting Here and Around

Haines is connected to other towns in Southeast Alaska by the Alaska Marine Highway, and from here you can connect with smaller vessels serving Bush communities. It is also one of the few towns in Southeast Alaska that is accessible by road; be aware that the weather and wildlife in this area present hazards on the highway. Take the Alaska Highway to Haines Junction and then drive on southwest on the Haines Highway to the Alaska Panhandle. The town is a delightful place to explore on foot. In addition to regional connections, Air Excursions offers flightseeing tours of Glacier Bay. Housed a few doors up the street from the visitor center, Mountain Flying Service leads flightseeing trips to nearby Glacier Bay National Park. Wings of Alaska has scheduled service to Juneau and Skagway.
