Multisport Outfitters in Denali National Park and Preserve
Denali Outdoor Center. One of the oldest operators in Glitter Gulch (the area right in front of the park entrance), Denali Outdoor Center can take you rafting in Class IV rapids, kayaking, put you on a mountain bike, and then get you a cabin so you can sack out and recover from your day. Prices for white-water rafting start at $87; bike rentals cost $25 for six hours, tours cost $50. Lakefront cabins on Otto Lake run $92 per night, or just stay at the campground for $8. Mile 0.5, Otto Lake Rd., off Mile 247 Parks Hwy., Healy, AK, 99743. 907/683–1925 or 888/303–1925. www.denalioutdoorcenter.com.
Denali Park Resorts. This outfitter provides one-stop shopping for lodging, activities, and more. It can set you up with pretty much any trip in the Denali region, from rafting to fly-fishing. For $100, a guide can take you on a mellow wilderness raft trip 13 miles down the Nenana—or on a river trip that hits Class III and IV rapids. Or choose from a variety of guided hikes, with one suitable for just about any level of fitness. Take an easy guided bike ride for $30, or rent a bike and hit the trails yourself. It also runs both the McKinley Chalet Resort and the McKinley Village Lodge, with more than 500 rooms in all. The lodge and resort frequently fill up with tour groups so it's best to plan ahead if you want to stay here. Mile 238.5 Parks Hwy., at the entrance to Denali National Park, Denali National Park, AK. 907/276–7234 or 800/276–7234. www.denaliparkresorts.com.
