Tour buses offer a comfortable introduction to the park. Reservations for all bus trips and campsite stays are accepted beginning in late February. Advance reservations are required for the tour buses but not the park shuttles. Many large tour groups reserve well in advance, so be sure to call ahead. Rides through the park include a five-hour Natural History Tour and a Tundra Wilderness Tour, which lasts from six to eight hours depending on season and weather. These trips are fully narrated and led by naturalists, and include a snack or box lunch and hot drinks. Although the Natural History Tour lasts five hours, it only goes 17 mi into the park (2 mi beyond the private-vehicle turnaround). This tour is more of a cultural history tour, emphasizing Denali's human and natural history. Those wishing to see wildlife or gain the best views of Denali should not take the Natural History Tour. The Tundra Wilderness Tour is a great way to go if you're a first-time visitor wanting a fun and thorough introduction to the park. Prices range from $62.05 to $93.75 for adults, including the $10 park admission fee. Another important consideration: these trips don't allow you to leave the bus and travel independently through the park.
