Admission to Denali is $10 per person and $20 per family. The Wilderness Access Center, near the park's entrance (at Mile 237.3 of the George Parks Highway), is where reservations for roadside camping and bus trips into the park are handled. A smaller building nearby is the Backcountry Information Center, for those visitors who want to travel and stay overnight in the wilderness. The Backcountry Information Center has backcountry permits and hiking information, including current data on animal sightings, river-crossing conditions, weather, and closed areas. Permits are required for overnight backpacking trips, but you won't need one for day hiking. Other than the restricted areas, recognizable by signs posted prominently next to the road, the park is yours to roam. A new building, the Murie Science & Learning Center, is now the place to get general information about the park and learn more about Denali's interpretive programs. You can also visit the bookstore and natural-history exhibits here.
