Cruise ships sailing the Gulf of Alaska and the Alaska Marine ferries call in Seward, two hours by train or bus south of Anchorage. The South Central route of the Alaska Marine Highway connects Kodiak, Port Lions, Homer, Seldovia, Seward, Valdez, Cordova, and Whittier.
