A glass-canopy lobby with a jade-tile staircase, acres of cream-color marble, and guest rooms where you can pick up voice mail, iron a suit, and brew your own coffee make this 16-story hotel one of the city's best, despite its marginal neighborhood. Get a room high up on the north side to watch F-15s and other jets flying tight patterns over nearby Elmendorf Air Force Base. A downstairs restaurant (Ptarmigan Bar & Grill) serves three meals a day, and a 15th-floor restaurant (Josephine's) is open Sundays only, serving a brunch with a view all summer.
