Fodor's Review:

Space is at a premium in this minuscule downtown bar where the business crowd heads for a light meal. It isn't for kids, but the food is always delicious. The steak sandwich and cheeseburgers are good bets, but also check out the board for the day's seafood specials. A giant block of cheese occupies one corner of the bar, and the TVs are usually tuned to sports in this Cheers-type gathering place.

The food is average, the waitresses are rude, and there are better beer prices a short walk away. On the bright side, they have free block of government cheese at the end of the bar that you can pull from.

This little bar and grill has to be the best in Alaska. The food is always tasty and cooked to perfection, service with a smile (and always on a pretty face, I might add), and just all around a pleasant time. Love the beer battered halibut and the nightly specials can't be passed up.

Most food is fried, the special is usually decent but be careful. I've been visiting Anchorage off and on for 10 years and have witnessed and have several stories of guys getting beaten up and thrown out by locals who "didn't like the way they looked". Food is good at most places in Anchorage and this has got to be one of the roughest dives downtown - you can do better.

The last year or so this once fine example of a long standing, well run restaurant and pub has slipped dramatically. While the food is still relatively good and for what it is a good value, the service and clientele have degraded to largely an angry local punk element anytime after 7PM. Management and staff seem to support and coddle the rude and sometimes violent element and it is sometimes unsafe. Very, very sad.

This used to be THE place where a lot of the pilots and locals alike would meet up and eat some dinner and have a few pints, and good conversation. Lately the crowd has changed a lot, and it can get pretty rough in there. It certainly is not the same atmosphere that it used to have for many years.
