Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum

Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum Review

The state's unique aviation history is presented with 25 vintage aircraft—seven have been completely restored—three theaters, an observation deck along Lake Hood, the world's busiest seaplane base, a flight simulator, and a gift shop. Highlights include a Stearman C2B, the first plane to land on Mt. McKinley back in the early 1930s. Volunteers are working to restore a 1931 Fairchild Pilgrim aircraft and make it flyable and are eager to talk shop. A free shuttle to and from Anchorage Airport is available.
