Fodor's Review:

An impressive collection of historic and contemporary Alaskan art is exhibited along with dioramas and displays on Alaskan history and village life. You can join an informative 45-minute tour (given several times daily) or step into the theater to watch a film on Alaska. In July the first-floor atrium is the site of free daily presentations by local artists and authors. A café spills out into the atrium, serving delicious lunches from the Marx Brothers' Cafe, and the gift shop sells Alaska Native art and souvenirs.

  • Cost: $8
  • Open: Mid-May-mid-Sept., 9-6 daily, Thursday to 9 pm; winter Tues.-Sat. 10-6, Sun. noon-5.
