Bird-Watching in Anchorage

Popular bird-watching places include the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which provides access to Westchester Lagoon and nearby tide flats, along with Potter Marsh on the south end of Anchorage. The local chapter of the Anchorage Audubon Society (907/276-7034. www.anchorageaudubon.org) refers you to local birders who will advise you on the best bird-watching spots. You can also sign up for bird-watching classes and field trips. The society's bird hot line tracks the latest sightings in town. 907/338-2473.
