Provence Delices

$$-$$$, French, Cabbagetown

Fodor's Review:

This pretty French-style villa is a 28-year-old Cabbagetown landmark with a potbellied stove and a delightful summer patio. The eight-item sampling menu satisfies the curious with a tartare of scallops; a tartine (open-face sandwich) with cured salmon, goat cheese, and garlic mayo; a chicken roulade with orange sauce; and other small dishes. If classic Provençal fish soup appeals, this is the place to try it. Duck confit with olive sauce is crisp and juicy at the same time. Authentic patisserie, including tarte tatin, with caramelized apples and a buttery crust, makes a fine ending.
