This Kensington-area bright spot has staked its claim as one of Toronto's truly authentic bistros for many reasons, but one in particular: though it's not actually written on the menu, they serve horse tenderloin by request. This unassuming boite, all oxblood red with vinyl chairs and checkered tablecloths, has all of 30 seats, with French doors leading to a few handfuls more on the very appealing patio out front. Favorite dishes include luscious Camembert fritters, garlicky escargot, good steak frites, rack of lamb, and many quaffable wines, including a long list of Old World. A three-course prix fixe (C$30) is also available. Great for brunch too.
