Kultura

$$$-$$$$, Modern Canadian, King East

Fodor's Review:

After opening in August of 2006, Kultura instantly became celebrity central during September's International Film Festival. Matt Damon threw a private dinner in the upstairs dining room (where the décor says "NYC loft meets Tibetan rumpus room") and Vince Vaughn created a self-styled "gangster table" on the second floor. At street level, people sip from a diverse wine card, including 11 types of bubbly, at communal tables with low-slung club chairs. On the menu are small plates for sharing, called "trans-ethnic dishes," like Jamaican chicken risotto and toasted lobster ravioli with lobster saffron bisque. Brunch, also made for sharing, is offered in the renovated 1820s heritage building: eggs Florentine on rounds of puff pastry, and fingers of French toast with caramel brittle, a brunois of candied apple, and spiked whipped cream.
