Fodor's Expert Review Auberge la Pinsonnière
124 rue St-Raphaël, La Malbaie, Québec, G5A 1X9, Canada
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
An atmosphere of country luxury prevails at this Relais & Châteaux inn, which has an impressive art collection and a solid restaurant with one of the largest wine cellars in North America. All of the rooms have fireplaces and whirlpools, and most have king-size beds. The bathrooms are equally lavish, with a sauna or steam shower. Certain rooms have private balconies with glass walls that overlook Murray Bay on the St. Lawrence River. With a 25-foot window and balcony, you'll feel like you're sleeping on the river.
PROS
- friendly staff
- fireplaces in every room
- views of Murray Bay
- 12,000 bottles in the wine cellar
- a wonderful, albeit very steep, trail leading down to the river
CONS
- restaurant is not good for vegetarians
- expensive
