Oka
Urban sprawl has driven the Cistercian monks from their abbey in Oka, on the shores of Lac des Deux-Montagnes, to seek solace farther north in St-Jean-de-Matha in the Lanudière region, but the cheese they made famous is still produced by a private firm here and is available in local shops. The rolling hills around the little town of Oka are famous for their apple orchards. If you love cider, follow the Route des Vergers, stopping at various properties along this "Orchard Route" to sample the local wares. There's also a winery on the route: La Roche des Brises, whose whites and reds include the portlike L'été Indien (Indian Summer).
