Getting Oriented

Lower Town (Basse-Ville) and parts of Upper Town (Haute-Ville) make up the walled Old City (Vieux-Québec). You can walk from one to the other, or take a ride on the funicular that runs between them. Streets in both these areas are not in a grid, so a map is essential. Beyond the walls, the main street is the rue Grande-Alleé, which approaches the Old City from the east.
