Built in 1866, the Clarendon is the oldest operating hotel in Québec City, and now it's been refurbished in art deco and art nouveau styles, most notably in the public areas. Some guest rooms have period touches, and some are more modern. Half the rooms have excellent views of Old Québec; the others overlook a courtyard. The new loungy Le Charles-Baillairgé is more contemporary in terms of décor and cuisine than its predecessor, L'Emprise, which was the jazz bar in Québec City.
