Fairmont Le Château Frontenac Review

Towering above the St. Lawrence River, the Château Frontenac is the most photographed landmark in Québec City, and is considered the Grand Dame of Canadian hotels. Its public rooms—from the intimate piano bar to the 700-seat ballroom reminiscent of the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles—are all opulent. Rooms are elegantly furnished, like mini châteaux with gold and green decor touches. The ultimate experience here is the Fairmont Gold level, where no detail has been overlooked and the staff fawn on every guest. Rooms on this floor are pricier, but include breakfast, cocktails, afternoon tea, and access to a private lounge. At Le Champlain restaurant, classic French cuisine is served by waitstaff in traditional French costumes. Other activities, including whale-watching, horseback rides, dogsledding, and rafting can be scheduled through the hotel conceirge. This hotel is a tourist attraction in its own right, so the lobby can be quite busy. Reserve well in advance, especially for late June to mid-October.
