Cafe-Boulangerie Paillard Review

Owned by Yves Simard and his partner Rebecca, this Certified Organic bakery, pastry counter, sandwich bar, pizza shop (summer only), and ice-cream parlor is known for its selection of nouvelle French pastries, whole-grain breads, gourmet sandwiches, and artisan gelato. Long wooden tables, designed to get customers talking to each other, create a convivial atmosphere. There might be a line while the locals buy their lunch, but it's well worth the wait.

    Café-Boulangerie Paillard Review

After a cold day site seeing, we stopped in here and had a wonderful late lunch. I had a great BLT and wife had her soup fix, she loved it. We also bought a couple of those dangerous looking pastries. don't understand the negative comments by others. OUr experience was top notch, though getting the order was a mite slow, but nothing that disturbed us.

    So, so.

I ordered the hot veggie sandwich. Good but very small for $8 and nothing at all on the side. They got my nephew's sandwich order wrong. Others in our group ordered small pizzas and thought they were good but they took a loooong time to be made. We were able to sit outside which was nice.

    Not ready for their close-up

We went to this place after giving up on the creperie across the street. This place was just as bad. The staff were simply not up to handling the number of customers. It took more than 20 minutes just to get anywhere near getting our order. The harassed staff were cutting corners on hygiene (bare hands on the food, no hand washing) and there was chaos behind the counter. We finally just asked for our money back. Even doing that was a production. This is probably a good place, but like most places we found in Quebec City, they were just not ready for their time in the spotlight.

The Perfect Place for a Snack, Light Meal or Dessert!

Just returned from Quebec City and tried this place for lunch and for dessert. The sandwiches are big- perfect for sharing. The gelato they serve is the best in the city (in my opinion!). It just so happened the owner was in there when I was and he was very nice as well.
