From May through October, Amphi Tour sells a unique one-hour tour of Vieux-Montréal and the Vieux-Port on both land and water in an amphibious bus. Bateau-Mouche runs four harbor excursions and an evening supper cruise daily from May through October. The boats are reminiscent of the ones that cruise the canals of the Netherlands—wide-beamed and low-slung, with a glassed-in passenger deck. Boats leave from the Jacques Cartier Pier at the foot of Place Jacques-Cartier in the Vieux-Port.

Open horse-drawn carriages (fleece-lined in winter) leave from Place Jacques-Cartier, Square Dorchester, Place d'Armes, and rue de la Commune. A one- to two-hour ride costs about C$65, although slow days mean you have a better chance of bargaining.
You can walk through various historic, cultural, or architecturally diverse areas of the city with a costumed guide, courtesy of Guidatour. Popular tours include Old Montréal, the red-light district, and the elite 19th-century neighborhood known as the Golden Square Mile.
From mid-April to mid-November, Circuit des Fantômes du Vieux-Montréal has walking tours through the old city where a host of spirits are said to still haunt the streets. Kaleidoscope has a wide selection of guided walking tours through Montréal's many culturally diverse neighborhoods.
