Overseen by one of Quebec's renowned pastry chefs, Patrice Demers, Patrice Pâtissier is a beautifully designed pastry shop that also doubles as a wine bar with an extensive and well chosen wine list created by Patrice's better half, sommelière Marie-Josée Beaudouin. Pick up a pastry to go at the counter or choose one of the plated desserts to enjoy on-site with or without its wine pairing. Chef Demers' "vert" dessert—a savvy combination of pistachios, green apples,
cilantro, olive oil and a white chocolate and yogurt mousse—has become a classic. His kouign amann—a French sugar and butter layered dessert from Britanny—is delicious as is the maple financier—a nutty-tasting, brown butter cake. There are also several seasonal savory small plates to choose from for a weekday lunch or dinner Thursday to Saturday. The Quebec asparagus with squid ink croutons, anchovy mayo, and confit lemons is a classic come springtime, as is the beautiful Nordic shrimp dish with yogurt panna cotta, cucumbers, and sorrel.
