Fodor's Review

On a popular street corner, this French bistro creates good karma by heating its outdoor terrace for eight months of the year. The other winning move is the late-night special: between 10 pm and midnight, the table d'hôte menu (an appetizer and a main) is just C$27. Regulars gravitate toward the classic dishes served such as the calf liver, salmon or beef tartare, grilled Cornish hen, and hanger steak—all served with ceremonial aplomb on white linen tablecloths. It's no secret that the fries at Leméac are world-class, as is the weekend brunch. It gets busy, so reservations are recommended. Leave room for dessert: the Pain Perdu, a thick slice of brioche with caramel and maple, is a specialty, and it's large enough to feed at least two people.
