Every year, it seems, La Ronde adds some new and monstrous way to scare the living daylights (and perhaps your lunch as well) out of you. The most recent addition is the Goliath, a giant steel roller-coaster that opened in the summer of 2006. It dwarfs the previous favorites—the aptly named Vampire and Monstre—in both height and speed. But if the idea of hurtling along a narrow steel track at 110 kph (68 mph) doesn't appeal to you, you might prefer the boat rides or the Ferris wheel. The popular International Fireworks Competition is held here weekends and a couple of weeknights in late June and July.
