Hôtel St. Paul Review

Forget fussy oil paintings or rococo furniture; the St. Paul keeps the focus on modern silk, stone, and raw-metal decor accents, which are admired by its fashionable guests, who also appreciate the 19th-century facade. Stark white walls and huge shuttered windows give the "sky rooms" in this converted office building a light, ethereal feel. The "earth rooms" are decorated in richer, darker colors. All have separate sitting areas with sleek leather furniture. Repeat customers rave about the panoramic views of the Old Port's architecture and the hotel's overall serenity. Now there's an airy new restaurant in the lobby with a glassed-in ham cellar. Pity the lobby hasn't been updated.
