Book NowHôtel Gault Review
The street is lined with gaslights and the facade dates from the 1800s, but this boutique hotel looks like something out of a modern-design magazine. Witness the yellow sectional couch by Francesco Binfaré in the lobby. Each loft-style room is different: some have tile-and-concrete floors brightened by boldly patterned geometric rugs; others have sleek, blond-wood furnishings and contrasting rough-brick walls. All have CD and DVD players (you can rent movies from a library of classics and indie film titles downstairs) plus new plasma televisions. Bathrooms have freestanding modern tubs and heated tile floors. In summer, ask for a room on the fifth floor, where there are private terraces. Original cast iron pillars highlight the building's past as a warehouse for cotton mogul Andrew Frederick Gault.

The spacious rooms, delicious full breakfast, complete with table service, and helpful staff make this hotel a gem. I didn't think it off the beaten path, either: less than 5 minutes in either direction will get you to the heart of downtown or Old Montreal.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Hotel Gault, and I would highly recommend you consider Hotel Gault when visiting Montreal. It's located in the old section of town next to downtown, so it's central for walking with easy access to the Metro at Queen Victoria Stations. The rooms are large, I had the Extential, and it was about 400 sf with loft like open design. The breakfast is great, as are the other facilities, especially for a 30 room hotel. The ambiance and serene atmosphere provice a nice relaxing escape.
