Elegant and old-school, Moishe's is one of Montreal's premier steak houses. Since 1938, the Lighter family has been hands-on when it comes to selecting and aging their own steaks. The specialty is grilled meat, accompanied by Moishe's famous buttery Monte Carlo potato—the inside of a potato is scooped out, mixed with milk, butter, cream, and chives and then put back into the skin. Fresh oysters are a great way to start, and the traditional Caesar salad is good accompaniment to the main event. Lamb chops and various fresh fish preparations are available, but make no mistake, this is a steak house. The C$25 "Three Hours to Midnight" special (after 9 pm) Thursday through Saturday is a great deal.
