Take cutting-edge experimental art and mix it up with food, and what you get is Labo Culinaire Foodlab. Located on the third floor of Montreal's Society of Arts and Technology [SAT], Foodlab is an ongoing culinary experiment, with rotating themes. One month might be Jerusalem or the South of France, and another month might focus on dishes from Julia Child's cookbook. The decisions are left to Michelle Marek and Seth Gabrielse, the resident chefs and creative masterminds. You can watch them cook in the large open kitchen or, when it's warm, sit outside on one of the most beautiful terraces in town. Foodies come for the consistently excellent and memorable food, and locals love the international feel and regularly head here for drinks after work. Note that children under 18 are only allowed on the outdoor terrace.
