Fodor's Review

That rarest of the city's culinary finds—authentic Quebecois food—is the specialty at this tiny greasy spoon that's been in business since 1938. Sit at the long counter and make your way through a filling breakfast of eggs, ham, toast, and, as the restaurant's name suggests—beans. These Québec-style signature beans are still made the old-fashioned way and the owner is more than happy to explain the steps if you ask. At lunch, there are bowls of stew made with meatballs and pigs' feet, tourtière (meat pie), and pork and beans. Or opt for the "Assiette Québécoise" and get a taste of everything. It's cheap and filling, and the staff is charming, though it could use a slight face-lift.
