Elmwood Heritage Inn

121 N. River Rd., Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, C1A 3K7, Canada

Tranquil and retaining its historic elegance, this 1889 inn sits at the end of a tree-lined lane in a residential neighborhood. Designed by architect W.C. Harris for the grandson of shipping magnate Samuel Cunard, Elmwood has been faithfully restored to reflect its Victorian pedigree. Exhibit A: the grand dining room where gourmet breakfasts are served by candlelight. Some rooms have claw-foot tubs and original working fireplaces. A second-floor common area boasts another fireplace plus a balcony, stocked guest refrigerator, and a collection of classic films.
