Central Coastal Drive: Places to Explore

Cavendish

Cavendish is the most visited Island community after Charlottetown. The proximity of Prince Edward Island National Park, with its promise of summertime sun and sand, is one reason for the heavy influx of vacationers. The crop of amusement park–style attractions that has sprung up on Route 6 as a counterpoint to the pristine park is another. However, it all began with Anne of Green Gables. Thousands of Anne-ites flock to the Cavendish area every year to visit the homes associated with Lucy Maud Montgomery, who was born and buried in the area, and to explore the places so lovingly described in her books.
